Serkan Emiroglu was born just outside of Istanbul, where he later moved as a teenager. Through-out school he worked for a barber, a cafe, a florist and finally a portrait studio, where he discovered his love for photography. He left his studies in electrical engineering to study photography and began assisting in still-life studio. While finishing his studies, he soon began shooting fashion for local and international magazines in Turkey. For the last few years he has been based in Europe, residing in Paris.

Drawing on memories of his past, his work is intimate, introspective and quietly beautiful. Serkan’s love of shooting landscape is seen in the remoteness and solitude in his compositions, which adds a tension to the reflective atmosphere. His experience in still-life comes through in his appreciation of classical aesthetic and porcelein textures. In his photographs he is searching for surreal, shy, and awkward moments, but keeping the mood reserved and stylish.
